Assignment Title: A Multi-Country Study on Doctoral Training

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology (icipe) has received financing from Carnegie Corporation of New York to support the PASET Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif) in strengthening doctoral training and postdoctoral research in applied science, engineering and technology in Africa, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.
The Research Group will assess challenges of and opportunities for doctoral and postdoctoral training and research and their contributions to the national economy in Kenya, Ethiopia, and Rwanda. The scope of the assignment will cover Ethiopia, Kenya and Rwanda, and will focus on Rsif thematic areas. It will identify key training and research gaps and challenges or opportunities, including pipeline and employment issues for PhD graduates, and provide recommendations to inform policy.

The International Centre of Insect Physiology and Ecology now invites eligible Research Groups to indicate their interest in providing the Services. Interested Research Groups should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services. The shortlisting criteria is:
- The lead researcher should have a PhD qualification in a relevant field, and a post PhD research experience of at least 5 years in the higher education sector or science and technology policy development.
- Other team members should have a PhD qualification or a Master’s degree with at least seven years’ experience.
- All research group members should possess knowledge and experience in research methods and should have well demonstrated analytical skills and excellent writing skills.
- Provide a competitive fee quote in US$ to perform the assignment.
- Provide contact details of at least three (3) organisations where you have provided a similar service. These referees will be contacted.
