6th Rsif PhD Scholarship Call Information Dissemination Webinar
Start Date: August 23rd, 2024
End Date: August 23rd, 2024
Venue: Zoom (Virtual)
Description
The Partnership for skills in Applied Sciences, Engineering and Technology (PASET) is an African-led initiative aimed at addressing the skills gap in applied sciences, engineering, and technology (ASET) fields crucial for socio-economic transformation in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA). As PASET’s flagship program, the Regional Scholarship and Innovation Fund (Rsif)1 plays a pivotal role in supporting PhD students, post-doctoral scientists, and universities across SSA.
Rsif’s primary objective is to develop a cadre of highly qualified specialists in ASET fields, thereby enhancing research and innovation capacities throughout the region. The program focuses on five priority thematic areas: ICT (including big data and artificial intelligence), food security and agribusiness, minerals, mining and materials engineering, energy (including renewables), and climate change.
Building on the success of five previous cohorts, the Rsif PhD Scholarship program has launched applications for its sixth cohort. For this round, Rsif aims to recruit 20 new students, with funding primarily provided by the Government of Kenya. Of these, 16 will be awarded to Kenyan nationals based on PASET’s 80/20 rule for contributing countries, and 4 will be awarded to nationals of other countries in sub–Saharan Africa. This allocation reflects both Kenya’s significant contribution to the program and Rsif’s commitment to fostering talent across the broader sub-Saharan African region.
By offering this webinar, we aim to attract a diverse pool of qualified applicants and ensure they have a clear understanding of the Rsif PhD Scholarship program and application requirements.
